Ralph E. Crone, 70 died at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Deloris F. (Gettys) Crone. The couple observed their 14th anniversary October 10, 2002. He was also the husband of the late Arlene L. (Pales) Crone.
Born July 27, 1932, in Dover Township, he was a son of the late Lester R. and Esther P. (Lynn) Crone.
Mr. Crone worked as a grocery manager for Spanglers Market, Dover, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Dover United Church of Christ; President of Dover Lions Club, recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award; volunteer for Dover Food Bank, Dover Area AARP, and Dover Family Clothes Tree; life member of York Fair Association; member Shiloh American Legion Post No. 741; member of Travelers Protective Association, Post G., York.
He was a Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran; and a 1949 graduate of Dover Area High School.
He is also survived by four sons, Benjaman A. Crone and Kelly E. Crone, both of Dover, Andrew L. Crone of York and Michael L. Crone of Codorus; a daughter, Anita L. Hensel of Dover; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne L. Crone of Dover.
Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Dover United Church of Christ, 45 W. Canal St., Dover. A Lions Memorial Service will be held 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service to begin 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial to follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with Veterans Honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be Rev. Roanne MacEwan, member of Dover UCC.
