October 16, 2003 Meeting Minutes

-Ronald Botterbusch, our President opened the meeting by welcoming all in attendance.

-The Secretary, Susan Forrey, read the September 23 meeting minutes. The minutes were amended to correct – last name was Starkey not Spahr. Norma Botterbusch and Kay Stitley then approved the minutes.

-Bob Merkert gave the Treasurers report – the balance is $ 3946.24. Jan Eisenhart and Dr Charles Drawbaugh approved treasurers’ report.

-Gayle Heagy, our Assistant Archivist, informed the members that she and Joyce are continuing to update the Archive and amend information so that it may be posted on the website. Gayle Heagy, Joyce Law and Susan Forrey moved the items in the Archives from the smaller 5x5 unit to the 10x5 unit at Capital Self Storage.

-Brett Pfleiger gave the web page report – a lot of information has been added to the website such as – Map of Dover; Dover’s involvement in the War of 1812; Biographies and Biographical sketches and Cemetery lists to name a few.  The members also discussed having a direct link from a search engines to “Dover Pa”. Brett will address the link.

-Blood Root Book Project – Ron Botterbusch told the members that Sheila Harkins wants to schedule a meeting to discuss and review the project.

-The Spahr Springhouse Project – Susan Forrey discussed the itinerary for Saturday Oct 25 clean out. We will start at 8AM. Gayle Heagy, Norma Botterbusch, Kay Stitley and Grace Trimmer volunteered for the food committee.

-Kay Stitley informed the members that she has been approached by a number of organizations concerning the Dover Historical Walking Tour. Kay will follow up with their requests.

-A motion was brought to the floor by President Ron to keep the same Officers and Directors through November 2004 due to the time frame of legal filings for the Society. Susan Forrey and David Laird approved the motion. President Ron will make a list of the Officers and Directors and give to Dr. Charles Drawbaugh prior to the November meeting. At that time the members will be able to nominate a member or retain the same Directors and Officers. The January 2004 meeting those Officers and Directors will take an oath. All members in attendance approved the motion. 

-November 20 at 730PM, Mr. Richard Banz, Curator for the York Heritage Trust will be our speaker. He will speak for about one hour on the subject of “What is in your Archives”? 

-The next meeting is scheduled for November 20 at the Calvary Church. Zee Kehr is in charge of refreshments.

-Motion to adjourn and was approved by Bob Merkert and Jan Eisenhart.
