The Archivist report was presented by Dr. Charles Drawbaugh.  Dr. Drawbaugh reported that the mystery has been solved concerning the box of artifacts left on his front porch.  It was discovered that said box was deposited by Ethel Rentzel-Fitzkee.  Dr. Drawbaugh reported that there are approximately 156 entries in the archives.  Mr. Botterbusch reported that Dr. Drawbaugh has kindly agreed to be the society’s Archivist Emeritus, as he does not feel that with all his other civic duties he can continue as the full-time archivist.

Gayle Heagy, Assistant Archivist, reported that Doris Herman gave her some photographs dating back to the 1940’s.  Gayle also asked for volunteers to help install the shelves in the archives storage building.

Brett Pfleiger, Website editor, reported that he has added the September meeting minutes and information on the 2006 quilt winner to the webpage.  Madelyn Shermeyer spoke to Brett concerning Maureen App working with him on webpage maintenance and updates.

Cindy Snyder, Historian, was not available at this time to give her report due to a prior commitment.  Norma Botterbusch reported that Cindy has quite a few entries for the scrapbook.  Photos will be printed off in the near future so Cindy can begin to assemble to scrapbook.  We need to acquire a copy of the obituary for Dave Laird that was in the newspaper.  Norma reported that Janet Ponder-Sutphin’s mother, Kay (Kitty) Sutphin passed away.  Janet and Craig are society members who live in Alaska.

 Committee Reports:

Lori Koch reported that the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held on November 25 and everything is under control.  Bob Dentler has lined up the band “Crossroads”, a band from Hampton, to provide music at the ceremony.  The Dover Women of Today will provide cookies; Lori, Norma and Kay will provide the coffee and hot chocolate, tables and paper products.  The youth from Harmony Grove Church will be serving hot cider.  Mr. Botterbusch has made arrangements for a visit from Santa.

Kay Stitley reported on the Blacksmith Shop dedication scheduled for June 2, 2007.   Kay stated that everyone will have a part in planning the dedication even if they do not sign up to be on the committee.  She will be open to any suggestions from the members.  Kay will also be arranging a meeting in January 2007.

June Kinsey reported on the lottery ticket fundraiser.  June reported that a total of 314 tickets have been sold for a total of $1,570.  She asked that all tickets be turned in even if they have not been sold.

June Kinsey reported on the Blacksmith Shop open house for members.  June and Lucia Hrinyak attended the November Dover Borough Council meeting to acquire permission to serve wine at the open house.  The Society was denied because the park rules ordinance adopted by the Borough prohibits any alcoholic beverages in the park.  There is a date change from Friday evening, April 25 to Sunday afternoon, April 27.

Mr. Melvin Miller, a member of the West Manchester Historical Society, extended an invitation to members of the G.D.H.S. to attend their November meeting to hear a presentation by Barry Kent on “Indians and Europeans in Pennsylvania”.  Several members indicated they would be interested in attending.

Joyce Law reported that she had received a donation of $35 from the Gross family, which was given to the society by Phyllis Wolgamuth.

Norma Botterbusch reported that approximately $3,000 profit was made on the three quilts that the G.D.H.S.’s talented quilters have created for us.

Mr. Botterbusch reported that the society has received a letter from Dover Borough concerning new banners in the borough.  It has been about three years since the banners were installed and the Borough is inquiring from all current banner sponsors whether or not they are interested in replacing their banner.  Madelyn Shermeyer made the motion to purchase a new banner, locate it near the square and return the old banner to the society, second by Joyce Law.  All were in favor.  Motion passed.
