GREATER
The Greater
Dover Historical Society (GDHS) was conceived by a handful of interested citizens who
wanted to preserve the history of the BOROUGH and township of Dover, Pa and THEIR people
for future generations. Soon their friends and
neighbors joined the Organization, having the same commitment of documentation and
preservation as the seven original founding members.
The Society has
established a safe and climate controlled environment for historical documents and
artifacts. Donations of historic documents or
artifacts may be brought to a meeting or may be made by contacting the Assistant
Archivist.
The members of
the GDHS extend an open invitation to you to attend our monthly meetings held on the third
Thursday of each month, except December, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main St.,
Dover, Pa. Our meeting is called to order by
the President of the Society at 7:00 PM.
Should you wish
to become a member of the GDHS, you can download and print the Membership Application
Form. (MEMBERSHIP FORM)
Your membership
includes the Newsletter which is published four times/year, the Annual Historic Walk of
Dover held in June, and the Annual Members Only picnic/meeting held in July at Lehr Park
on Davidsburg Rd.
If you have
questions or would like to be a speaker at one of our meetings, please contact any of the
Officers listed below.
We look forward
to you joining the Society, attending our meetings, and helping us to preserve the
heritage of the Greater
