GDHS Meeting Minutes August 21, 2003
-Our President Ron Botterbusch brought the meeting to order.
-The minutes from the June meeting and July picnic were read by the Secretary. Doris Burger requested the June meeting reflect that her granddaughter Nicole Weilbacher, from Ohio, pulled the winning quilt ticket at the 3rd Annual Walking Tour. The record will reflect that addition. Cindy Snyder and Norma Botterbusch approved the minutes.
-Bob Merkert gave the treasurers report. The balance at the end of June 2003 was $3561.06. $178.00 ($148.00 quilt money / $30.00 from members) was added to the June balance and the June expenses were $11.44, total balance is $3727.62. For the month of July the beginning balance was $3727.62. $77.00 ($30.00 members / $47.00 from picnic donation) was added to the July balance and the expenses were $145.60 ($108.50 to Jack Wynn [chicken for the picnic] / $37.00 to Ron Botterbusch for postage stamps), total balance end of July is $3659.12. Three bills were approved to be paid by the members (total of $198.23): Dover Fire Company $60.00 (rental space for carnival; Secretary expenses (stamps $37.00 and development of Blacksmith Shop building pictures $75.00); Brian Emig ($26.23 Blacksmith shop work day, Spahr Farm, other). Motion to pay the bills and seconded by Mattie Shermeyer and Kay Stitley. Cindy Snyder and Joyce Law approved the Treasurers report.
-Dr. Charles Drawbaugh gave the Archivist report. The donations to the Archives were: a book about the full history of the Mt. Royal Church, 75th Anniversary; Doris Burger has a large wooden table she is storing for us till we get enough space and a book written by Ed Starkey called The Memoirs of Blackberry Road.
-Web page report given by Joyce Law website has been updated with pictures and new information and she is still working on material to be put on the website.
-Norma Botterbusch spoke about the Dover Carnival and asked for volunteers to man the Societies stand.
-The Bloodroots Book will be published as it was originally written, but any corrections will be posted in the back of the book with the correct information. This process meets all copyright laws.
-Secretary spoke about the filing requirements for the state and federal government concerning the Society. A list of Committees that the Society needs was drawn up and the Directors will vote upon a number of requirements and issues at their meeting.
-OLD BUSINESS: Secretary to send a letter to Phyllis Wolf thanking her for position as Director. The Alternate Director Donald Baughman will now be a full Director. The interim Directors voted at this meeting were: Gayle Heagy and Kay Stitley. Motions were made and approved by Mattie Shermeyer and Doris Burger and the members in attendance.
-The meeting was then adjourned and was approved by Cindy Snyder and Brian Emig.
-There were 22 people in attendance.
-Thank Cindy Snyder for the yummy desserts and beverage.
-UPDATE: It was decided after our regular meeting that the Directors will hold their meeting, Thursday August 28, 2003 starting at 630pm at Kay Stitleys' house (204 Gross Ave, Dover Pa)
-As of Friday August 22, 2003 the Secretary had contacted all Directors and informed them of the meeting August 28.
