GDHS Meeting Minutes July 17, 2003

-Our July meeting was held at the Pavilion located to the left of the Log House across the street from the Dover Township Office on West Canal Road.  We started to eat about 545PM after Terry Koller gave the invocation.  The main course was Wynns’ Broasted Chicken and potatoes, Normas’ baked beans, hot dogs cooked on the rotisserie with all the fixins’, old fashioned lemonade and mint tea, salads, pies and cakes of all varieties, other types of desserts, that wonderful fudge, fresh fruit and other numerous goodies. (The Society will be collecting those recipes for a future cookbook).

-A book concerning the Blacksmith Shop (a work in progress) was available for viewing along with pictures of the headstone located at the The Old Brethren Cemetery and the gravesite of the Stouch Family.

-Numerous stories were heard through out the evening concerning Dover and the surrounding area.  And yes, there was talk of how occupations have changed and the manner in which a person does their work.  I believe I heard a math question and answer session being discussed.

-The attendees thanked the picnic committee for their efforts in making the First Annual Picnic a memorable one. It was also expressed that there should be a 2nd Annual Picnic.

-The Society wishes to thank the 30 attendees for their efforts in making the picnic a success.

-The Society also wishes to thank Yvonne Snyder for the fresh flowers and Lonnie Seitz for allowing us to use his hot dog rotisserie.

-For those who stayed late – remember to bring the bug spray next year!

-Our next meeting will be Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 7PM at the Calvary Church in the square of Dover. Cindy Snyder will bring refreshments to the meeting.
