Great-grandfather was Joseph Henry Phlegar (1840-1923)

The following is transcribed from his obituary:

Phlegar, Robert Glenn, 73, of Salem, died Monday, April 24, 1995. He was a native of Springfield, Ohio. Mr Phlegar was a retired mechanic and tool and die maker with Roanoke Electric Steel. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salem, Taylor Masonic Lodge #23, D.D. Shanks Royal Arch Chapter #31, Scottish Rite, Roanoke Consistory and Kazim Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. (Fire Brigade) of Roanoke. He was a member and past patron of Salem Chapter #161 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Roanoke Lodge #284, Loyal order of the Moose and member and past treasurer of Salem Coin Club. Mr Phlegar was a charter member of Southwestern Genealogical Society, member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Palatines of America, president of Phlegar Allied Families and member of Hupp Deyerle Camp of Confederate Veterans. Survivors include numerous cousins, including a devoted cousin, Luceile Stover of Salem; and a special friend, Jan Bale of Sarasota, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in John M. Oakey & Son, Salem Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Thomas L. Joyce with burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by a service by the Loyal Order of the Moose at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the graveside. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or Salem Rescue Squad. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
