General Note
Information on father and mother from Michael C. Gulden.

The following was based on information from the Historical Society of York County:

Millis H. Pfleager donated a Pfleager Family Bible, a lustre-ware pitcher and family papers to the Historical Society of York County. These articles were received March 7, 1935 (see copy of letter in Historical Society of York County files). There was a controversy in 1942 regarding the existence of this Bible, based on correspondence between Wells Goodykoontz (a relative of the Pfliegers) and representatives of the Historical Society. The Bible and papers were examined at the Historical Society on May 2, 1992 by David R. Stephenson III and Sarah Jane Schroeder Stephenson. The Bible is entirely in German and was printed in 1757. It is still in remarkably good condition overall and the pages are not particularly fragile. We did not observe any family records written on the pages within its covers, but the papers in the Millis H. Pfleager collection (file 2637) do show a family history. The original document containing this information is in the Historical Society's files and has been transcribed in German as well as translated into English. The original papers may have been enclosed in the Bible when it was presented, and may have led to the misunderstanding regarding family information that was said to be located in the Bible itself.

The records written on separate sheets appear to contain information on the family of Frederick Pflieger and his wife Christina Wolbert. See PFLIEGER, JOHN FREDERICK (born 1763) for transcription of the family history.
