Remarks: Information from Historical Sketch of the Goodykoontz Families in Virginia and U.S. by Wells Goodykoontz, and Michael C. Gulden (records of Zion Lutheran Church, Floyd Co, VA).

According to Robert G. Phlegar, George Frederick and Abraham left York in the late 1770s or early 1780s and settled at Middletown, Frederick Co, VA. In 1804 they moved to Jacksonville, Montgomery Co, VA which is now Floyd, Floyd Co, VA. He believes that the third brother, Michael, joined them in Floyd Co.

The following information sources are listed in D.A.R. No. 622429 (Luceile Phlegar Stover):

Family history (unpublished) compiled by Eula Bell (Carter) DAR #127605; marriage -grave photograph of Margaret Goodykoontz; indenture (land sale) Montgomery Co., VA Deed Bk.I, pg.72; marriage searched by Goodykoontz, Sherr and Slavrn, Williamson, W. Va., for Mrs Eula Willis Bell (Carter) DAR #127605.

The following is from backup information to D.A.R. No. 413745 (Josephine Phlegar Preston):

In Deed Book D. Page 364, of Montgomery Co. Va. there is a deed of mortgage dated Sept 17, 1806 between George Flegar of Montgomery Co. Va. and Jacob Flegar of Borough of York, in county of York, Pennsylvania which gives bond to Jacob for $500 for parcel of land containing 400 acres lying in Montgomery Co., formerly Botetourt Co. on Little River.

Signed George Flegar (in German)

Jacob and George were sons of Frederick Pflieger of York, Pa., See list of children of Frederick.

This list indicates that Frederick Pflieger is George Frederick Pflieger (1735-1791). Jacob Pflieger would be his eldest son (1757-1829) and George would probably be John George Frederick Pflieger (1762-1839).
