MEETING MINUTES
April 21, 2005
- 730pm – President Ron
introduced our guest speaker Thomas Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs spoke about the
American Drummer Boys and their significant roles in the Revolutionary War,
the Civil War and the War of 1812. Mr. Gibbs demonstrated drum commands
used by British and American drummer boys.

- Congratulations to
Member Brett Pfleiger for finishing the Boston Marathon in 3 hours 29
minutes and 38 seconds.
- Susan Forrey updated
the members about the Blacksmith Shop work schedule. We have the permit
and the contractor will start digging the foundation. Mr. Larry Toot, CEO of Progressive
Services has donated our standing seam roof as well as his crew to install
the roof. John Moul Sawmill will be processing the truss and lathe work.
April 30 at 8am is the timber clean up day. Member Lucia Hyrinak has
volunteered to Chair the Landscape Committee for the Archives Building.

- Gayle Heagy told the
group that she would be calling the volunteers for the Boro of Homes
Project about the second week of May.
- Audrey Thompson will
donate a bible from John Leech of Decatur County, Iowa dated 1867 after
she has it appraised.
- Meeting was adjourned.
MEMBER REMINDERS
- The Quilt Raffle is a
fundraiser that helps the Society meet its budget. We ask members to help
the Society sell their share of tickets. See Norma Botterbusch for your
share. Each ticket is $1.00 or 6 tickets for $5.00.
- Help us keep our Trash
Bag Fundraiser going strong. You can purchase the 33-gallon bags with our
name imprinted at Botterbusch Jewelry or at our regular meetings. 25 bags
for $4.00 or a case [200 bags] for $30.00.
- Next regular meeting is
scheduled for May 19 at 730pm. A Board of Directors meeting is scheduled
for 645pm.
- June 21 at 6pm at the
Log House on West Canal Road is the meting place for our 5th
Annual Historic Walk through Dover Borough. Will be held rain or shine.
- July 21 is our 3rd
Annual Members picnic to be held at Lehr Park along Davidsburg Road. We
start serving at 530pm, but promise to leave some food for those who
arrive late. RSVP with number attending to Norma at 292-7894 or Sue at
292-6190.
- August 18, 730pm our
regular meeting will be held at the Log House at the Community Park on
West Canal Road.
