The
regular meeting of the Greater Dover Historical Society was called to order by President
Madelyn Shermeyer at 7:10 p.m. at the
President Shermeyer reported she did the swearing-in of Vice President Kay Stitley prior to the start of the meeting.
President Shermeyer presented the January 2010 minutes and asked for any additions or corrections to the minutes. Norma Botterbusch stated a correction should be made on page 2 – the tongs which Larry Law mounted in the Blacksmith Shop were not donated by the Botterbusch’s; a gentleman dropped the tongs off at their house. A motion to accept the minutes as corrected was made by Jeff Koch and seconded by Lois Slothower. All voted in favor and motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT
President Shermeyer called for the Pledge of Allegiance prior to proceeding with the treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report for January 2010 was presented by Treasurer Bill Coleman:

Deposits for January 337.62
Expenses for January 990.00
Balance as of January 31, 2010 $13,906.00
There was a motion by Mel Miller to approve the treasurer’s report as presented and seconded by Chris Coleman. All voted in favor and motion passed.
Assistant Archivist report – Gayle Heagy was absent. President Shermeyer reported a few donations were received and she will turn over all items and the donation sheets to Gayle.

OLD BUSINESS
Annual
craft day – President Shermeyer brought up the subject of the annual craft day which the
GDHS plans to hold in
President Shermeyer reminded members to submit their volunteer hours for 2009 to Bill Coleman. In addition, President Shermeyer asked Vice President Stitley to ask her daughter-in-law about helping complete the 990 form.
NEW BUSINESS
Refreshments – President Shermeyer reported there is a sign-up sheet on the table for members to volunteer to bring meeting refreshments.
Dover Firemen’s Fair – President Shermeyer stated we will verify with Melanie Green about chairing the committee again this year. President Shermeyer reported she spoke to Mike Deardorff with the fire company and reserved 2 spaces/2 tables for the society at the fair this year.

Ott provided copies of notes she prepared from attending the January meeting of the York
Heritage Trust on the traveling Civil War exhibit. President
Shermeyer reported she spoke to
Speaker for March meeting – President Shermeyer reported she is working to reschedule Ron Botterbusch and Barry Emig to make the muzzle loader/black powder collection presentation which had been canceled last November. Norma Botterbusch said that the March meeting would be too soon for them to be prepared, but maybe they can be ready in June. President Shermeyer said she will ask Donald Baughman if he can do his presentation about his family’s monument business at our March meeting.
Vice President Stitley gave her heartfelt thank you to everyone who sent cards and called during Bob’s illness, and she deeply appreciated all the support. She also thanked the membership for the beautiful condolence resolution. A copy of the resolution will be given to the Historian for our records.
QUESTIONS/COMMENTS
Lois Slothower expressed the society’s thank you to Vice President Stitley for suggesting donations in memory of Bob be sent to the GDHS. President Shermeyer asked Bill Coleman for a total amount of memorial contributions to date – a total of $1130 was reported. These funds will be deposited into the Cash Reserve Account.
There being no further questions or suggestions from the membership, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.
